Man In The Mirror

Man in the mirror,
He stares at me,
I meet his gaze,
But there isn't much I want to see ...

Staring deep into his eyes,
There's a lot of learning for tomorrow,
But not many steps,
That have gone right.

This poor little soul,
Let down by a weak mind,
This poor little soul,
There's a good heart he can't hide behind, not anymore.

Unfulfilled promises, to oneself, outnumber those to others,
It doesn't matter though, cos none are believed anymore,
Let down the ones he loves,
They'll hope and encourage, but won't count on him, anymore.

This poor little soul,
Let down by a weak mind,
This poor little soul,
There's a good heart he can't hide behind, not anymore.

A consistently wasted promise of greatness,
That everybody seemed to believe in, weighs on my lazy, complacent self.
But I make a promise for tomorrow, not for the first time ...
I place faith in the tools that I've gathered,
Over the years,
I break away from his pitiful gaze,
The night gets darker, I look to the east,
Yet another promise? One that's not been made before?
The question is, what now do I stand for?

This poor little soul,
Let down by a weak mind,
This poor little soul,
There's a good heart he can't hide behind, not anymore.
